HP OfficeJet Pro 8216 Printer Reviews– The HP OfficeJet Pro 8216 has a flatbed scan that can scan paper to legal size, and a 35-sheet automatic Document feeder (ADF) that supports scanning documents up to the legal size. It is easy to navigate with the HP OfficeJet Pro 8216 2.6-inch color touchscreen found on the front, but it lacks the connector found for a USB thumb drive on the front.

The HP OfficeJet Pro 8216 has a good selection of cable and wireless printing options. It includes USB for connecting to a computer and Ethernet for connecting to a wired LAN. (I tested it over an Ethernet connection. It has built-in Wi-Fi, and supports HP Wireless direct HP proprietary equivalent of Wi-Fi direct. It is Apple print compatible and supports printing of Google Cloud Print. You can print or scan a mobile device using the HP Smart app, which is available for both iOS and Android. While the HP OfficeJet Pro 8216 is delivered with both PCL and PostScript drivers, the only printer.

Output quality was not as good as the HP OfficeJet Pro 8216. In my tests, it showed slightly over-par text for an inkjet and slightly subpar graphics and photos. Text should work well enough for most companies except those that require tiny fonts. I also noticed banding (a regular pattern of weak grooves) on some graphics. Output is fine for most in-house use, but I would hesitate to use the HP OfficeJet Pro 8216 to print formal reports, or for PowerPoint handouts to distribute to potential clients I was seeking to impress. With photos, I noticed dithering in the form of granularity in some prints. It printed out our monochrome test photo with just one trace.

The HP OfficeJet Pro 8216, which shares the same cartridges and operating costs as the HP 7740, has cost of 2.1 cents per monochrome page and 8.1 cents per color page, based on HP’s price and earnings figures. These are decent numbers, albeit not very low. The Brother MFC J5830DW, which uses brother’s high-yield, humble priced INKvestment cartridges, has cost only one penny per black side and 4.7 cents per color page.

The HP OfficeJet Pro 8216 Wide format All-in-one printer has a lower purchase price than the HP OfficeJet Pro 8216, but lacking enough that editors ‘ Choice model of features to make it hard to justify doing it, unless you are really strapped for money. With the HP OfficeJet Pro 8216, you get only half the paper capacity of the HP OfficeJet Pro 8216 and cannot switch between paper sizes without removing the paper and adding a different type of paper. You can also not scan at tabloid size as you would with the HP OfficeJet Pro 8216. It is also missing the connector for a USB thumb drive. If you are on a tight budget, the HP 7720 is still a fine choice, but if you can spring for it, the HP 7740 is worth the extra dollars you pay for it.
